The Sales Follow Up Email
The Sales Follow Up Email Template
What do you do when a warm lead goes cold, doesn’t answer the phone, won’t call you back, or respond to your sales follow-up emails?
Here’s my sales follow-up email template for trying a different angle to move the needle and get a prospect that was once hot and now not to respond.
I send a LinkedIn Inmail that says:
“Hi (Prospects Name):
Are you OK if I hit the pause button on my outreach? I don’t want you to think I dropped the ball by not following up, but I also don’t want to become a pest if the timing isn’t right for us to share how our sales program helps companies maximize their sales teams’ earning potential. Will you let me know when you would prefer to talk? Here’s my calendar link for your convenience.”
Sales Follow Up Email Template: Why It Works
This sales follow-up email solution does two things:
- It’s a creative way to utilize a third channel (LinkedIn) to get a reaction and uncork the damn
- For some weird reason, it gives me peace of mind even if they don’t respond.
I can’t explain the last one on why it does that. All I know is that after 25+ years of selling over the phone, inside sales reps NEED to clear out baggage to make room for some headspace.
By being willing to let a prospect go (either temporarily or permanently), you create the kind of headspace you need to perform at your best.
If the prospect responds, great. If they don’t respond, that’s OK too – At least you are still not holding on to that baggage.
I learned a long time ago not to chase prospects that don’t want to be caught.
And giving the prospect an out such as the example in the template above is a professional way of leaving the door open for them to return when the timing is right or the pain point becomes too much.
